Choral Music 1 Beginning
This ensemble is open to all treble voices who have not been involved in the chorus program before, composed of a variety of students representing all four grade levels. This non-auditioned class focuses on basic musicianship and protocol for choral rehearsals and performances. It includes an introduction to sight-reading and proper singing technique. Music selected will range from the 16th century through current day, historical literature, as well as music from various cultures, genres, and languages. Students are expected to perform in 4 regularly scheduled chorus concerts.
Choral Music 2 Intermediate
This ensemble will include soprano/alto voices in grades 10-12. Students in this group must already have a fundamental understanding of sight-reading and singing techniques. Music selected is composed specifically for 2-3 part treble voices and involves a wide range of styles, cultures, and languages. All students who have completed the beginning course are welcome to continue onto this class without audition. Students are expected to perform in 4 regularly scheduled chorus concerts.
Choral Music 3-4 Advanced (Honors)
Strong sight-reading and musical literacy skills are prerequisites to participate in this auditioned ensemble for treble voices. Success at the honors level requires rigorous study, excellence in performance, extensive knowledge of all areas of music including music theory, and an in- depth study of a variety of advanced music literature.
This ensemble will sing throughout the year at regular chorus concerts but also in various community events in our area. All students in this course are receiving honors credit for participation. Understand that students in this course have more outside responsibilities.
Men's Ensemble 1-4
This ensemble is composed of male singers representing all four grade levels. This non-auditioned class focuses on various levels of musicianship and protocol for choral rehearsals and performances. It includes a focus on sight-reading and proper singing technique using choral literature for lower voices. Music selected will range from the 16th century through current day, historical literature, as well as music from various cultures, genres, and languages. Students are expected to perform in 4 regularly scheduled chorus concerts.
